Filter Your Water

If you don’t already filter your water, here’s why you should.  Your body is made up of over 60% water, and you need to stay hydrated to function at your best.

Unfortunately, many sources of drinking water are unsafe and full of contaminants that can cause you to harm in the long term.

If you care about the health of you and your family, consider getting a water filter so you can make sure you get enough water while also avoiding chemicals that could be harmful to you in the long run.

How Many People Die Each Year Due to Unsafe Drinking Water?

It’s estimated that more than 1 million people, or 3,400 people every day, die each year from diarrhea caused by unsafe water. Women and children are most at risk—the World Health Organization states that women and children account for 66 percent of all water-related illnesses and death.

Young children in developing countries are particularly susceptible to contaminated water because their immune systems aren’t fully developed. As a result, they often fall victim to common illnesses like cholera, typhoid fever, and dysentery.

What Are the Benefits of Filtering Water at Home?

By filtering your water, you can avoid paying high prices at drinking establishments, and you’ll get better quality water too. But there are many reasons to filter your home water supply.

If you don’t already have a water filter installed at your kitchen sink, here are some health benefits that filtered drinking water provides:

  1. Better-tasting water
  2. Filtered tap water is generally much more palatable than unfiltered tap water. It doesn’t have any unpleasant taste or smell associated with it, which makes it easy to drink regularly without getting tired of it (which is often an issue with unfiltered tap).
  3. Improved Hydration
  4. Studies show that people who drink more filtered water tend to be healthier overall—and part of their improved wellness is due to better hydration.

Choosing to Filter Your Water

Choose a filter that has been tested and proven to eliminate water pollutants for your water type.

Carbon filters are one of many types used to filter your water and are a great option for those looking for an affordable way to have clean drinking water. They’re a great way to remove chlorine, bad taste, and odors from your drinking water. Plus, they’re portable and easy to use with any bottle. Some carbon filters even have a lifespan that can exceed two months. Carbon filtration is also one of the most affordable filtration methods on my list.

Step Up Your Bottled Water Game. It’s Worth It

Water from plastic bottles may contain toxic substances. Carry bottles made of shatter-proof glass or stainless steel instead. Single-use water bottles purchased in should never be reused.  You should also keep any single-use bottles away from the sun and heat.  The plastic may hold microorganisms and degrade, releasing pollutants into the water.

If you want to reuse a glass or stainless steel bottle, thoroughly clean it with soap and water between uses. Be sure to rinse it well before refilling it with your clean filtered water.

Some Final Thoughts

Since drinking water is so essential to our overall health and well-being, we must make sure what we’re putting into our bodies is as safe as possible. Filtered water is a great way to ensure you’re getting a clean source of hydration, and it can also help improve your overall health.
